Cloughtaney Gift At Stud
May 3, 2015
Cloughtaney Gift is a a super looking 77lb fawn with sensational early pace, and the son of Top Sire Crash. He is now retired from racing due to a broken hock in late March of 2015 after a sensational, if brief, career.
Gift is the fastest trapper produced by Crash. He had amazing early pace and led the 2013 Bar One Irish National sprint final for 399.99 yards sand, only beaten by Razdazl Rioga by a short head in a photo finish.
Gift raced against and beat the best sprinters of his generation; Bulmer’s Baby, Leeview Dave, Sidiarian Jet, Cambushmore etc. Check out the videos on Greyhound Data or on our Facebook page to see his phenomenal pace.
Gift also had the stamina to win over the 480 mts distance, and won seven races at this distance, breaking 29 seconds on nine separate occasions.
The highlights of his career read as follows;
Bar one National Sprint Runner Up 2013, beaten a short head by Razdazl Rioga.
His breeding is special and we, along with his trainer, believe he was bred to go to stud.
His dam was a lightly raced daughter of Jet Spray and Seventh Sense, 6 wins from 22 races and best times 28.94 Clonmel and 29.25 Kilkenny. She came from a super litter which included Group one finalists Seventh Jet and Whitegate Jet. She is a half-sister to the ill-fated Directors Ruler 27.96 Monmore, Birmingham Cup finalist and Carling Classic winner. She produced a puppy Derby finalist in her first litter to Droopys Maldini. Her litter brother Seventh Jet has produced some very handy pups with extremely limited opportunities.
The dam line has also produced National sprint winner Cambushmore all coming from the lightly raced Sleek Rose. Ex Lane of Roses ex Seventh Dynamic.
This is a breeding dynasty for early paced machines;
Rocking Bob, 28.41 Tralee Track Record on grass.
Ardcollum Hilda, Gold Collar Winner Catford
Dynamic Fair, winner of 2 Peterborough Derby's and back to back Dundalk Internationals
Ardcollum Flash, 28.27 480 in Wimbeldon during the '95 Derby, later exported to Australia for stud
The addition of the Martinstown lines have added the ability to get distance.
