From Kincraig Minnie to Kincraig Rory and now to Coolaboola Kennels

What a foundation brood Kincraig Minnie has become; a daughter of Mountleader Peer and Minnie’s luck. The terms bred in the purple are very often bandied about, but being a granddaughter of the iconic Minnie’s Nikita has given Kincraig Minnie a great start. With a career best time of 28.91 in Lifford she was always destined for the breeding paddocks.
Her first litter to Mustang Jack produced nothing of note. Her second litter to Smooth Rumble was a revelation containing Kilquane Lass and Kincraig Brindle, both super race bitches. Kilquane Lass broke the track record for the 750 yards in Cork and Kincraig Brindle won the Failte Ireland 600 yards open in Lifford worth 15,000 to the winner. Over thirty per cent of her progeny ran in major and feature races.
When retired to the breeding paddocks, Kincraig Brindle produced a whole host of top class greyhounds from mating’s to Droopys Maldini, Hondo Black and Ballymac Maeve. This year’s English derby semi-finalist Kincraig Rory being one of the notables. Her Litter sister Kilquane Lass, produced the top staying bitch Black Paws Down and a host of other top heat performers.
We move on to the next branch of the family. From the mating of Kincraig Minnie and Larkhill Jo, no notable performers were produced but they too have made their marks in the breeding paddocks. One of these daughters Kincraig Lauren has produced very well to a variety of sires; the best litter would be the August 2009 bunch to Ballymac Maeve all blessed with searing early pace. Pick of the bunch would be Burst of Magic the Langton Derby winner Kilkenny recording a super 28.79 in the final. In this litter we find the lightly raced Mays Little gem with a best of return of 28.65 for the 525 in Drumbo Park.
Her first litter to guess who, (Hondo Black) are showing exceptional promise. Hondo Black appears to be the catalyst for the production of hard chasing early paced performers when crossed with this line. The Coolaboola connection kicks in then as our young stud Bearforest Bear is a product of this highly proven line. He was tragically injured as a sapling, sustaining a fractured femur which required extensive surgery. His breeding lines are second to none and we are very confident he will produce some very nice pups. We will be covering some of our own broods in the very near future. Check out his breeding on Greyhound data and I am sure you will agree he is superbly bred.
